Workplace Training and Taxonomy

Employee communication must be understandable.

Do We Get An Extension?

Business Leadership

Communication for business leaders can be confusing. How does a business leader know when he/she has given definitive instructions? How does he/she know if the off-hand comment was taken the right way? Taxonomy teaches about words. This is important because words express meaning.

What if the word has different meanings? For example, in Geology – the word ‘extension’ means an increase in the length of a line during deformation. Biology does not include the word ‘extension’ but has a similar word ‘extensor’ which means muscle or tendon straightening a joint. Neither is the word found in the physics dictionary. In the chemistry dictionary a close word is ‘extender’ meaning a material used to dilute or extend or change the properties of resins, ceramics or paints. This presents a challenge for the manager who does not have access to the geology dictionary. Read more…

Workplace Training and Creativity Journals

Workplace training teaches business leaders how to capture business ideas.

Capture Your Next Creative Thought

A leadership development skill that should be learned in the workplace training program includes the creativity journal. Learn how to document safety records, administration records and other aspects of the organization. This is a very important record for Human Resources to use. HR can have a job performance appraisal with documentation that helps make better and fairer assessments.

Business leadership is easier to follow if documentation is provided. For example, the project may be to take photos of a business presentation. This sounds easy but if the end-user does not know what type of photo like a head shot or background shot then anything can result. Documentation provides a way to ensure that the specifications asked for were provided.

Workplace Training Tip: Any change that is made, include in the documentation too.

Now records are definitely helpful in the workplace but so are creative journals. These expressive journals allow the business leader ways to remember thought, just jot down an idea. The creative journal can include photographs or instructions. However, the main focus of the creative journal is to express new business ideas.

Workplace Creative Journal Tip: Periodically, go through the journal and transcribe the important ideas to a “to-do” list so that in time these good ideas will not be forgotten.

Please tell me how you capture your ideas.

Workplace Training and the Attitude Check

Business leaders motivate workers

Our Attitude Works

Organizational Development Skills

Another area of the planning process is monitoring and controlling work units. It might be easy for management to implement a plan but if that plan isn’t monitored at the employee level, management could risk losing valuable time if employees aren’t contributing to the organizational goals.

Attitude re-adjustment

An employee and a business leader must possess not only the right skills but have the right attitude. This is seen in many vocations. When a person has a bad attitude it affects everyone. The person’s dislike carries over to the personal contacts he has. Every relationship is affected by his/her bad attitude. At work this can be disastrous and lead to an uprising. Disgruntled employees lack enthusiasm and are de-motivated. This causes a reduction in job performance and eventually hurts the company. If the bad attitude is daily it may like leaven affect the whole lump. So, a CEO should try to remedy this. How a manager changes a person’s attitude is relative to many techniques. Motivation is a complex subject that requires specialized training. However, one way could be to offer incentives for an attitude re-adjustment. Does this pay off? In some cases, no because of the extreme effort required but in many the motivation and empowerment yield results. What do you think? Is it true that motivation from business leaders yields a high-performance team As a business leader would you invest in motivating your employees?
